Archaeologist, 100% fixed-term employment

Jamtli is looking to strengthen its cultural heritage work and is therefore seeking an archaeologist for project activities. The position is located in the Department of Cultural Heritage, which includes the museum's archaeological and architectural conservation staff. The department consists of both a project component and an advisory component, with this position being 100% project-funded.
The main responsibilities include independently working within contract archaeology and other externally funded projects, including reporting and financial follow-up.

As an archaeologist at Jamtli, you will be part of a small team where your strong collaboration skills and enthusiasm for the profession contribute to the team's capabilities and development.
You have extensive professional experience and contribute to the development of Jamtli's archaeological project activities while supporting other staff members.
Your solid knowledge in the field of contract archaeology, along with its regulations and tools, enables you to work independently while also growing with the tasks at hand.
You also possess good skills in digital field documentation and GIS (total station/RTK-GPS, and software such as ESRI and QGis).
The position is based in Östersund, but you will have large parts of Norrland as your workplace. Assignments in other parts of the country may also occur.
Your responsibilities include:
• Archaeological investigations in connection with developments, primarily step 1 investigations.
• Smaller archaeological surveys, step 2, preliminary investigations, and in some cases, final investigations.
• Administration related to assignments, including finance, planning, and reporting.
We are looking for someone who has:
• An academic degree with archaeology as the main subject at least at the master's level.
• Several years of experience in independently conducting archaeological investigations, including reporting, as well as the ability to independently assess archaeological and cultural remains.
• Good knowledge of relevant legislation (Cultural Heritage Act, Environmental Code, etc.) and the regulations of contract archaeology.
• Proficient knowledge and experience with ESRI software (especially ArcGisPro) and QGis.
• A valid driver's license (B category).
• Strong communication skills in both spoken and written Swedish.
• The ability to work in a structured, solution-oriented, and communicative manner.
It is advantageous if you have:
• Experience in preparing environmental impact assessments and consultation documents.
• Worked with Sámi issues in connection with investigations and research projects.
• Completed a course in registration in the Cultural Heritage Register (Fornreg) at the National Heritage Board.
• Experience in writing quotes and tenders.
