Botkyrka Municipality is the sixth largest municipality in Stockholm County and consists of the districts of Alby, Fittja, Hallunda, Norsborg, Tullinge, Tumba, Vårsta, and Grödinge. Botkyrka Municipality has approximately 95,000 residents and over 6,400 employees.
The Department of Health and Social Care is responsible for providing care, support, and assistance to the elderly and individuals with disabilities, as well as offering support to their relatives. Our goal is to provide good conditions for an independent, stimulating, and safe living situation for citizens around the clock. We are 2,500 employees who, in our various roles, provide support and care to those citizens who need it.
The government has decided on a new social services act that will come into effect on July 1, 2025.
The purpose of the law is to create a social service that is preventive, easily accessible, and knowledge-based. To meet this, the Department of Health and Social Care is establishing a new preventive unit for seniors, where we will gather expertise from different operations to better meet the needs of citizens. The position is located within this unit.
The Position and Responsibilities
The role of the Relative Coordinator is threefold. This includes monitoring the external environment, collaborating, and contributing to the development of the department's support for relatives. The role also involves disseminating knowledge within the organization through training initiatives and skill enhancement for staff. Additionally, it includes organizing, implementing, and evaluating activities for relatives. The role entails close collaboration with several municipal departments, the local civil society, the region, and corresponding functions in other municipalities. The primary focus of the Relative Coordinator is operational and aims to develop sustainable and accessible support for relatives in various life situations. The target group includes relatives of individuals receiving services under the LSS (Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments) and relatives of individuals in elderly care.
Your other main responsibilities include:
- Conducting both individual (physical and digital) and group conversations with relatives
- Planning and delivering training sessions
- Providing information and guidance to citizens and employees
- Anchoring a relative perspective in the department's operations – ensuring that support for relatives is integrated into daily activities, based on each operational function and assignment.

Who You Are
You hold a university degree in health and medical care, behavioral science, social work, or another qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
Other Requirements:
- Strong ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish, as a significant part of the role involves communication with various functions and establishing good contact with our citizens.
- Experience in engaging with relatives in difficult situations and competence in conversation methodologies, such as Motivational Interviewing (MI) or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Level 1 training, with a focus on supporting people in crisis and grief.
- Understanding of how political decisions affect operations and the organization’s work.
Meritorious:
- Experience from municipal operations and collaboration with actors such as municipal services, civil society, and regional authorities.
- Documented experience of the municipality's responsibility for support to relatives and application of relevant legislation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with the municipality, region, and state, as well as navigate their various roles and assignments is highly valued.
As a Relative Coordinator, you will collaborate daily with relatives, colleagues, and external actors to find sustainable solutions in often complex life situations. You adapt your approach to each individual's needs, prioritize quickly and confidently in changing situations, and create structure even when conditions shift. In conversations with relatives, you are present, attentive, and clear – which fosters trust and enables you to provide the right support at the right time. You build trusting relationships through continuous contact and by being a stable support in challenging conversations. You work purposefully to develop and make support for relatives accessible. This includes driving training initiatives, following up on the results of operations, and contributing to integrating the relative perspective into daily work across various functions.
