About this role
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing - we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and are now seeking more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism - to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society becomes safer for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand centers, and client transportation.
The Finance Department consists of the Procurement Unit and the Unit for Accounting, Planning, and Follow-up (REPU). REPU, in turn, consists of the Economic Support Section, a central accounting function, and national controllers focused on agency-wide issues such as business planning, risk analyses, annual reports, and financial forecasts.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a controller focusing on the results section of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's annual report, you will play a central role in highlighting how the agency contributes to its social mission. Your work involves collecting, analyzing, and quality-assuring operational data and documentation that describe results and goal achievement. You will also describe how results have developed in relation to goals and requirements in a concise, pedagogical, and effective text. The emphasis is on analysis, follow-up, and comprehensive understanding of operations rather than financial issues.
The role involves close collaboration with colleagues from various parts of the organization, where you will coordinate the work on result reporting and be responsible for ensuring that analyses and conclusions are of high quality and provide an accurate picture of operations. The assignment also includes contributing to investigations and developing working methods to strengthen the agency's ability to follow up and manage results.
This is an expansion of an existing function, which means the job content can be adapted based on your experience, ability, and interest. Here, you will have the opportunity to grow in the role, develop your analytical skills, and influence how result reporting is conducted in the future.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are seeking someone who is meticulous, analytical, and good at seeing both details and the big picture. You work systematically and thrive in a role where you can translate numbers and data into clear insights. At the same time, you are creative and see new ways to develop and streamline work processes. You enjoy collaborating with others and have the ability to explain complex relationships in a pedagogical and understandable manner.
It is important to us that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of people, respect for the individual, and belief in human will and ability to develop. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute with your approach to ensure everyone is treated equally. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
We are seeking someone who has:
• University degree in economics, political science, or public administration, or other education combined with experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant
• Experience writing clear, factual, and analytical texts
• Very good ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in Swedish
