County Administrative Board: A Driving Force for a Sustainable Society We work together with authorities, municipalities, businesses, and other stakeholders, focusing on Västra Götaland County and its 1.7 million inhabitants. The County Administrative Board has a broad operation and a crucial role in several societal areas. This is especially true for current challenges such as regional growth, implementing the green transition, developing civil defense, and nurturing democracy. The County Administrative Board is a regional government agency with approximately 1,100 pleasant and competent employees. We have operations in several locations in Västra Götaland and throughout Sweden, as we are responsible for IT services for all county administrative boards. Job Description The primary tasks include actively participating in regional development and growth work at the County Administrative Board, in close collaboration with other operations. The work is part of strengthening regional development, with a focus on contributing to the county's long-term sustainable growth. A central part of the assignment is providing development and socio-economic analyses and assessments in the agency's cases and processes, which provides essential input for decisions and priorities in various areas. The work also involves ordering and evaluating economic analyses to ensure well-founded assessments of the county's economic conditions and development. In collaboration with internal colleagues and external actors, develop descriptions of the economic situation and development in the county. During specific events or changes affecting the region, particular situational assessments may need to be conducted. Additionally, the role includes development-oriented work where operations and working methods are continuously reviewed and improved from a development and growth perspective. The goal is to strengthen the County Administrative Board's role as a coordinating and driving actor for the county's regional development. We continuously develop our operations, and therefore, you need to be open to potential changes in your tasks over time. You will work on agency-wide issues and be based in the Rural Development Department, responsible for coordinating work on Regional Development and economic sustainability. The Rural Development Department, with approximately 160 employees, consists of three units located in Skara, Borås, Uddevalla, and Gothenburg. Besides regional development, the department's main task is to promote sustainable, efficient, and environmentally adapted agriculture, sustainable rural development, fishery development, and veterinary and animal welfare issues. Location: Gothenburg or any other preferred location where the County Administrative Board has an office, such as Mariestad, Vänersborg, or Borås. We offer good opportunities for remote work during part of the work time. Travel is part of the job. Qualifications You have a relevant university degree in an appropriate field and experience in socio-economic investigation and consequence analysis. You have experience conducting economic impact assessments in the public sector and are accustomed to working in environments where multi-level cooperation is a natural part of the mission. You have regional economic knowledge or a good understanding of regional development issues and the territorial perspectives influencing societal development. Furthermore, you can both understand and communicate socio-economic analyses clearly and pedagogically. You can quickly determine which parts of an analysis are most essential and which can be deprioritized, contributing to efficient and well-grounded decision support. We prefer candidates who have worked in government operations and have the ability to conduct policy instrument analyses, good knowledge of natural resource valuation, and excellent Swedish language skills, both verbally and in writing. You are interested in digitalization and using or learning more about AI.
