About this role

Are you attracted to a job that involves quick decision-making and problem-solving? Are you currently working as a paramedic? If so, you might be the person we are looking for. **Job Responsibilities** As a paramedic, you will work with a unique range of patients—everything from newborns to individuals at the end of life. You need to thrive in a varied pace and be comfortable with not knowing how your work shift will unfold. You will work closely with a nurse, and together you will meet the patient, assess the situation, and create a caring environment. A significant part of the job involves providing care and understanding the situations of others. The role requires you to independently make many decisions, and you will collaborate extensively with the emergency department and dispatch center. You will also work with the police and fire services during joint alarms and responses. The service operates around the clock. Here’s how one of our paramedics describes the job: “The job itself is fun and varied; it’s exciting because you never know how a day will turn out and what you will encounter. We meet people of all ages, from newborns to the dying, and it’s a development experience. I believe I have the best colleagues in the world. While we maintain a cheerful and joking atmosphere, we can also quickly focus on the task at hand when the alarm goes off. We have a great sense of camaraderie.” **About the Workplace** The ambulance service has four stations (Fagersta, Köping, Sala, and Västerås) with a total of 16 ambulances. The Västmanland ambulance service, in collaboration with the ambulance services in Uppsala, Sörmland, and Värmland, manages prioritization and dispatch (112) independently. We carry out approximately 40,000 missions each year. The healthcare dispatch center (SvLc) answers over 65,000 calls annually. For us, it is important that you feel good and enjoy your job; therefore, we offer you: - An introductory year with both driving training and concept training - Development in your professional role with good career opportunities within the clinic, as we have our own training organization with a wide range of courses in the field - Individual scheduling and the region's working hours model, where night work allows for a reduced weekly working time and the possibility of rotation within or outside the clinic - Free access to our fully equipped gym - Wellness allowance of 3000 SEK/year You can find more about your benefits here: https://regionvastmanland.se/jobba-med-oss/dina-formaner/ **Qualifications** You who are applying should be a trained nursing assistant with additional training as a paramedic. You have worked as a paramedic for at least two years. We will conduct an individual assessment of your experience. For the position, a valid emergency driver training certificate and good driving experience are required, as well as three years of continuous driving license possession. If you have a C driving license, it is an advantage. Good physical condition is expected since heavy lifting is part of the job. The employment interview will include physical tests based on the Aasa test and a practical driving test. A certificate of swimming ability for 200 meters should be attached to your application. To thrive with us, you need to be secure and stable in your professional role. As a person, you should be structured, proactive, and independent in your work. Good collaboration skills and a strong sense of service are essential. You are accommodating and professional in your interactions with both colleagues and patients and their families, and you communicate clearly.
