The mission of the University Library and Student Support (UB) is to provide library services, learning, and student support.
Learning support includes fostering information literacy in education and offering an inspiring study environment for students. Student support refers to assistance for students in academic writing, mathematics and statistics, study techniques, as well as information retrieval and reference management. Additionally, the department provides central academic advising, pedagogical support for students with permanent disabilities, and student health services.
The University Library and Student Support is responsible for a project using the Supplemental Instruction (SI) method at Mid Sweden University. Supplemental Instruction involves trained SI leaders conducting regular study sessions for students in a specific course. These sessions focus on developing effective study techniques, improving understanding of course content, and increasing confidence in exam situations. Staff at UB train the SI leaders, coordinate the work, and provide mentoring support to the SI leaders.
We are now seeking 1-2 SI leaders for the Social Science Program for a part-time position at UB.
**Job Responsibilities**
We are looking for individuals who want to train as SI leaders and prepare and conduct study sessions within the Social Science Program on the Sundsvall campus. As an SI leader, you will plan and hold approximately one session per week for 1-2 hours for a group of 5-15 students, report attendance, and participate in mentor meetings. The role also includes participating in development and evaluation work.
**Eligibility and Qualifications**
You are currently studying in the Social Science Program at Mid Sweden University and have passed the B course in Political Science. You have an interest in pedagogy and in supporting other students in their learning. You are eager to develop your own leadership skills.

To be eligible for employment as a teaching assistant, you must be admitted to a degree program at the undergraduate or advanced level.

**Employment and Start Date**
The position encompasses 7.5-15% of full-time (3-6 hours per week) starting from January 5, 2026, or as agreed. Working hours will be scheduled outside the participants' scheduled lectures. The assignment is determined by semester, but no later than June 5, 2026.
The employment may be renewed in accordance with Chapter 5, Section 12 of the Higher Education Ordinance (1993:100).
