Workplace Description The Solid State Physics Division at the Department of Physics operates the world-leading semiconductor nanofabrication facility, Lund Nano Lab (LNL). LNL is part of Myfab – the national infrastructure for micro and nanotechnology manufacturing. It is a key infrastructure for Nanolund, the Center for Nanoscience at Lund University, which is a world leader in materials science and applications of nanostructured semiconductors. LNL has an annual turnover of approximately 45 million SEK and consists of about 1,200 m2 of laboratory space, of which 600 m2 is designated as a semiconductor cleanroom. The lab hosts approximately 80 tools for deposition, growth, etching, and patterning of semiconductor materials. There are also several specialized instruments for characterization and measurement. The lab has over 140 active users from academia and industry. The LNL team includes 13 highly qualified researchers, engineers, and technicians focused on maintaining the facility and equipment and providing service to all users to support their research. For more information: https://www.nano.lu.se/facilities/lund-nano-lab Job Duties As a research assistant (amanuens), your tasks may vary and are designed to provide insight into the academic world within your faculty. Lund Nano Lab is now seeking research assistants to help with lab operations and support researchers using the facility. Job duties include: - Particle measurement - Checking showers and eyewash stations - Baselining/checking basic machine data - Handling cleanroom clothing - Emptying and refilling cleanroom dishwashers - Managing consumable materials - Assisting users - Other laboratory and technical tasks as they arise Qualifications Eligible for employment as a research assistant are those admitted to undergraduate or advanced-level education at the faculty (or a related subject for joint departments). The degree must not have been obtained. Requirements for the position: - Admitted to a scientific or technical education program - Excellent English skills, both spoken and written - Self-motivated - Good collaborative abilities - Ability to interact with people from diverse backgrounds Advantageous for the position: - Experience working in ISO class 5 cleanroom - Experience working in a university environment We Offer Lund University is a government agency offering good employment conditions. Additional Information We are currently seeking 2 research assistants. The positions are time-limited to one year and covered by the flexible working hours agreement for administrative/technical staff. The scope can vary between 10-25% of full-time work by agreement. The employment must not negatively impact the research assistant's studies and cannot be combined with other positions. Regulations regarding educational employment as a research assistant are found in the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2017:284), Chapter 5, Sections 8-12. A research assistant position may be a maximum of 50% of full-time work and time-limited to a maximum of one year, with a total maximum of three years.
