Workplace Description
The position is affiliated with the Solid State Physics Division at the Physics Department, where extensive research is conducted in nanophysics, ranging from materials science to bio- and quantum physics and various applications.
The division is a central part of NanoLund, Lund University's large interdisciplinary research center for nanoscience and nanotechnology. The division includes Lund Nano Lab, a central and shared facility for manufacturing materials and components at the nanoscale. The division also has a strong commitment to undergraduate education, particularly in the Civil Engineering program "Technical Nanoscience" at LTH.
Prof. Heiner Linke's research group uses experimental and numerical methods to study phenomena in various systems, such as semiconductor nanostructures, biomolecular systems and fluids, including artificial biomolecular motors based on DNA and proteins.
Research Assistants in this position will work closely with Dr. Amijai Saragovi. Saragovi's research group develops next-generation protein design strategies for sustainability, nanotechnology, and hybrid biomaterials. A key focus is creating protein and silica hybrid materials, designed through computational modeling and validated in experimental systems. These materials have the potential to open new frontiers in bioelectronics, environmental applications, and advanced materials science.
Job Responsibilities
As a research assistant, your tasks may vary and are designed to provide insight into the academic world of the faculty where you are studying.
Job responsibilities include:
- Running and adapting advanced protein design models
- Writing and applying Python scripts for workflow automation and data filtering
- Contributing to computational design challenges involving proteins, small molecules, and ions
- Working on protein and silica hybrid material design as part of collaborative laboratory projects
Qualifications
Eligible for employment as a research assistant are those admitted to undergraduate or advanced level education at the faculty (or a related subject for joint departments). The degree must not have been awarded.
Requirements for the position are:
