About this role

The Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences, GIH, is Sweden's leading knowledge center for sports, performance development, physical activity, and health. We conduct high-quality and socially relevant research in the field of sports science, focusing on the human body in motion. We train teachers in the subject of physical education and health, as well as coaches, health scientists, sport managers, sports scientists, and researchers. At GIH, 160 staff members and 1,400 students work and study. The college is located in central Stockholm, in close proximity to the Stockholm Stadium and a large area for sports and outdoor activities. The Department of Physical Activity and Health focuses on education, research, and collaboration in the subjects of psychology and physical activity and health. Would you like to be part of an important project carried out in close collaboration with the Public Health Agency of Sweden? We are now seeking a research assistant who wants to contribute to knowledge and development in research examining risk factors for cancer and other non-communicable diseases. **Job Responsibilities** The tasks will be carried out as part of a collaboration project between GIH and the Public Health Agency. The project constitutes the Swedish part of a European project aimed at mapping physical activity, sedentary behavior, and sleep as risk factors for cancer and other non-communicable diseases. Other countries participating in the project include Finland, Norway, Estonia, Slovenia, Iceland, and Germany. As a research assistant, your main tasks will include communication with the Swedish participants via mail and SMS, administration of surveys and movement meters, as well as data management and archiving. Two different meters are used in the project: the Finnish UKK RM42 and the British Axivity. As a research assistant, you will work independently but under close supervision from the project leader and the Public Health Agency partner. **Qualifications** Eligible for employment as a research assistant is a student who is enrolled in a program, according to Chapter 5, Section 10 of the Higher Education Act, at either the undergraduate or advanced level at a university or college. You, as an applicant for this position, must be able to present proof of admission to such a program on the start date. **Evaluation Criteria** For this position, the following evaluation criteria have been set: • High importance is placed on personal suitability for the position, such as accuracy, accountability, and humility. • Significant emphasis is placed on experience with similar work. • Considerable weight is given to familiarity with working with accelerometer and survey data. **Duration/Work Hours** The position is a fixed-term employment for about 8 months, but no longer than until June 30, 2026, with start date as soon as mutually agreed upon.
