About this role
Together, we are developing Sahlgrenska University Hospital for a sustainable future. We are transforming healthcare with the goal of becoming Europe's leading university hospital by 2032. Together with patients, we work towards quality, accessibility, patient safety, research, education, and innovation – within an integrated healthcare system in the Västra Götaland Region. Our vision and goals aim for the highest quality of care, where the patient is always the focus. We offer healthcare locally and regionally, as well as highly specialized care to patients nationwide and abroad. Our employees are our strength, contributing to knowledge exchanges nationally and internationally. With digital tools and new working methods, we can simplify daily hospital life and offer modern, accessible, and highly effective care.
If you enjoy varied tasks, quick transitions, and working in teams, you'll thrive in our happy group!
Our Pediatric Emergency Department receives approximately 60,000 children aged 0-16 annually with acute medical, surgical, and orthopedic conditions and injuries.
We have fun together and are passionate about our patients. Our goals are: excellent patient treatment, short waiting times, and delivering high-quality emergency care. You'll be greeted daily by committed colleagues, and together we develop pediatric emergency care. We are a large workplace where you will never feel alone.
We Offer
At the Pediatric Emergency Department, we care about our employees and work environment. Team spirit is crucial; we work in teams with nurses, nursing assistants, and doctors, and the interaction between different professional groups is highly valued. We constantly strive to improve care and the workplace together.
As a newly graduated nurse, you'll have a secure start with us. You'll be part of a pediatric base year and an internal introduction program spanning four semesters. Experienced staff will support you and create good conditions for you to feel secure, develop, and grow into your role. We believe that as a newcomer to the profession, you have much to contribute, and we want to provide you with the right conditions to develop, grow, and feel comfortable in your role.
We offer regular emergency care training, such as emergency room exercises every week, short training sessions each morning, and daily reflection. You'll have the opportunity to learn at a pace that suits you, supported by colleagues who want you to succeed.
Job Responsibilities
As a nurse with us, you'll have a varied and exciting job. You'll work in medical, surgical, and orthopedic teams caring for acutely ill and injured children and adolescents. Your tasks will include triage, sample collection, nitrous oxide treatment, casting, wound care, and inhalation treatments. You'll document on emergency medical forms and in the Melior and Elvis systems.
About You
We're seeking a newly graduated nurse with a strong interest in pediatric care. You are a licensed nurse or will graduate in January 2026.
As a person, you have a solution-focused approach and enjoy taking initiative when things need to be handled quickly. You remain calm in acute situations and can think clearly and prioritize correctly when circumstances change. You are structured, flexible, and see opportunities rather than obstacles.
You have excellent interpersonal skills and contribute to a positive work environment for colleagues, patients, and their families. And last but not least: you believe it's important to have fun at work and can laugh, even when the pace is high.
Warmly welcome to apply!
