About Us The position is within the field of biosciences, which at the University of Skövde is defined as the study of biological structures, processes, and functions at various levels, from biomolecules to living cells, organ systems, entire organisms, populations, species, and ecosystems. The area also includes the study of the origins of living organisms and their interactions with the environment they inhabit. Furthermore, biological applications in various fields such as medicine, agriculture, food production, and nature and environmental conservation are included. The position is based in the Department of Biology and Bioinformatics. The role of lecturer primarily involves teaching in biosciences as well as the administration associated with these tasks. Additional responsibilities may be included in the position. We are looking for candidates who have: • A Master's degree in biosciences with a focus on molecular biology, or equivalent competence, or any other professional skills relevant to the subject matter of the position and the tasks included in the employment • Practical experience in laboratory work, particularly sterile techniques, extraction and quality control of DNA/RNA, and methods such as qPCR, Western blot, and cloning • Documented strong skills in using R • The ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing, in English • Documented good collaborative skills. We will also value the following criteria in the hiring process: • Demonstrated pedagogical skills based on aspects described in the University’s employment regulations • Ability to plan, implement, assess, and evaluate education as well as the ability to supervise and examine students at relevant educational levels for the position • The degree of skill required for eligibility • Completed higher education pedagogical training of at least 15 credits or acquired equivalent knowledge in another way • The ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing, in Swedish • A strong ability to independently plan and organize work. In this position, great emphasis will be placed on practical experience in laboratory work, particularly sterile techniques, extraction and quality control of DNA/RNA, and methods such as qPCR, Western blot, and cloning, as well as the ability to plan, implement, assess, and evaluate education and to supervise and examine students at relevant educational levels for the position.
