About this role

The Sami School Board is a government agency with its office including a school principal, controllers, HR, and administrators located in Jåhkåmåhkke. The Sami School is an educational form equivalent to primary school, with instruction from preschool class to grade 6. The teaching is based on Sami culture and language according to the Sami school curriculum. The Sami School Board also operates preschools by agreement with respective municipalities. The agency has operations in Giron, Gárasavvon, Váhtjer, Jåhkåmåhkke, and Dearna. The Sami School Board arranges distance learning in Sami languages and supports the development and production of teaching materials for Sami education. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES You will work in the school and after-school program You have the ability to see all students and take into account their individual conditions. You contribute to their learning during school hours and after-school activities. You can observe and work from group interactions to develop students' ability to communicate, listen, interpret, and understand others' perspectives and ways of expressing themselves. You enjoy building relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. Together with other team members, you will be responsible for developing, planning, implementing, and following up/evaluating the activities. QUALIFICATIONS Candidates must have at least a three-year high school education with a pedagogical focus or other education deemed suitable by the employer. Work experience with students with special needs is meriting. You have patience, problem-solving skills, and are positive and creative. You are good at seeing opportunities. You have good collaborative abilities and an interest in building relationships. You are thorough, flexible, and attentive to students' needs, and enjoy working with children and youth. As we work in a Sami environment, it is important to have knowledge of and be well-versed in the Sami language and culture. We will place great importance on personal suitability.
