About this role
Working hours are scheduled for afternoons/evenings and weekends. Daytime hours are applicable during school breaks and days off.
Do you want to be the first external assistant to help start an assistance program and make a difference in a boy's and his family's daily life? Our client is an 8-year-old boy who enjoys speed, fun, and sounds. If he had his way, he would spend all day swimming, swinging, and listening to music. He also likes to go outside for a while each day to be active.
The boy has a constant need for supervision and requires assistance with all aspects of his daily life. He lacks verbal language and communicates through body language and sounds. Therefore, it is essential that you are attentive to various signals, calm, and able to interpret body language. His mood can change quickly, and as a personal assistant, you need to be observant to swiftly and smoothly redirect any frustration.
During the day, the boy attends school without his personal assistant. After school hours, you will primarily work at the boy's home with his family, so it is important that you are good at communicating, have a positive and respectful demeanor, and possess strong empathetic skills. The boy primarily eats through a feeding tube and requires monitoring due to severe epilepsy.
The work is based on respect for the individual's self-determination and privacy. A thorough and clear introduction will be provided upon employment. A driver's license is required.
It is desirable that you have knowledge of child development, are educational, a bit creative, and enjoy trying out various activities with the boy to support his development. Since the client does not have spoken language and has difficulty expressing himself, it is necessary that you are creative, attentive, and observant of small signals. Experience in personal assistance and epilepsy is advantageous, but personal suitability and care experience will be prioritized. Please include in your application when you are available for the position.
